Governor Thomas J. Mabry papers, 1946-1950.

Summary: Collection consists of official and personal papers of Governor Mabry. The bulk of the collection consists of the official papers. Personal papers include special awards and recognition Mabry received while in office. Correspondence, petitions, appointments, resignations, proclamations, and reports involve various state agencies and institutions. Legislative papers concern legalized gambling, the senate bill on Native American voting rights, workman's compensation, and the reapportionment of the legislature. Also included is correspondence between Mabry and the U.S. congressional delegation from New Mexico. Special reports contain audits of the Santa Cruz and Antelope Valley Irrigation Districts and the plan and survey reports for the New Mexico State Hospital. Special issues concern Los Alamos and the development of a movie industry in New Mexico. Conservation papers include documentation on the Rio Grande Compact, the Conchas Dam, the Interstate Streams Commission, the Colorado River Storage Project, the Interstate Oil Compact Commission, and the State Food Conservation Committee. The post war problems series consists of documentation on the Bataan Memorial, the atomic bomb, the Veterans' Administration, war bonds, and other related issues. Penal papers contain correspondence, pardons, paroles, and extraditions.
